Spring is here, and if you're a dog person in London, that means one thing: it's time to get outside. But not all green spaces are created equal some are proper dog heaven, others are a minefield of "no dogs allowed" signs. We've done the legwork so you don't have to.
Here are our 10 favourite dog-friendly walks in London for spring 2026, from riverside romps to ancient woodland. Your dog's tail is about to go into overdrive.
1. Hampstead Heath

Best for: Off-lead adventures and serious zoomies
If London had a dog park hall of fame, Hampstead Heath would have its own wing. Over 800 acres of hills, ponds, and woodland with plenty of off-lead areas where your dog can properly let loose. The views across the city aren't bad either.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
2. Richmond Park

Best for: Big dogs, big energy, and chasing (not catching) deer
At 2,500 acres, Richmond Park is London's largest Royal Park. Dogs must stay on leads near the deer, but there's still plenty of space to roam. Spring is stunning here — bluebells, blossom, and baby deer everywhere.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3. Victoria Park, Hackney

Best for: East London dog people who also want brunch
Vicky Park has two off-lead dog areas and a proper community feel. Walk your dog, bump into a neighbour, grab a coffee. The Saturday farmer's market is right next door and very dog-friendly. East London at its finest.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
4. Wimbledon Common

Best for: Wild woodland walks without leaving London
Over 1,100 acres of common land with ancient woodland, open heathland, and windmill views. Loads of off-lead freedom and a real sense of escape from the city. Muddy boots required (and totally worth it).
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
5. Battersea Park

Best for: South London dogs and riverside strolls
Beautiful riverside park with a designated off-lead area in the morning (before 10am). The riverside walk is gorgeous in spring, and there are loads of dog-friendly cafés nearby. Post-walk brunch sorted.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
6. Epping Forest

Best for: Serious explorers who don't mind a bit of a trek
Technically on the edge of London but absolutely worth it. Ancient woodland, streams to splash through, and wide open spaces. Spring means wildflowers and birdsong. Your dog will sleep for a week after this one.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
7. Primrose Hill

Best for: Instagrammable walks with the best skyline view in London
A favourite among North London dog people. The park is largely off-lead and the hill offers arguably the best panoramic view of London. It gets busy on weekends, but the vibe is always good. Very sociable for dogs and humans alike.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
8. Hilly Fields, Lewisham

Best for: South East London's hidden gem
Not as well-known as the big parks, but Hilly Fields has a brilliant off-lead dog area, a great community café, and spring wildflower meadows that are genuinely beautiful. Go before everyone else discovers it.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
9. The Thames Path

Best for: Long linear walks with riverside views
The Thames Path runs for 184 miles but even a section of it makes for a brilliant dog walk. Dogs on leads near the busier sections, but the quieter stretches east and west of the city offer real freedom. Spring light on the Thames is genuinely magical.
Dog-friendly rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
10. Blackheath

Best for: Big open spaces, kite flying, and proper dog chasing
Huge open common land with virtually no restrictions for dogs. The flat, wide-open space is perfect for dogs who need to really run. Backed by the beautiful Greenwich Park and with loads of cafés on the edge of the heath, it's a great morning out.
